Tractor-Mounted Vice Is A Weight Box, Too
"Lets you get another use from something you already need," says Len Goodenough, sales representative of Spaldings & Sons, Ltd., Lincoln, England, manufacturer of the new Field Hand, a combination front weight box and field vise for tractors.
The new 260-1b. all-steel tractor accessory attaches to the front frame of the tractor with just two bolts, or at the rear on a 3-pt. mounting when needed to counter balance a working front end loader. A drawbar on the box makes it versatile in that application. You can load the box, measuring 121/2 in. by 221/2 in. by 19 in., with plenty of weight, or even sand or rocks. The vise jaw opens 281/2 in. by 9 in. for work.
"It's great for those minor repair jobs that would require you to head back to the shop and lose valuable field time," says Goodenough. The box can also be used to transport tools or other equipment.
The company is looking for North American distributors for the vise, which retails in the United Kingdom for around $400.
