6-Wheel 4WD ATV
A new 6-wheeled, 4-WD ATV rides smoothly even at speeds up to 35 mph, says Polaris Industries about its new "Big Boss 4 by 6".
The Big Boss is equipped with many popular ATV features such as full floor-boards, electric start with recoil back-up, automatic transmission, and a tight turning radius. It's powered by a 20 hp Fuji 244cc two-stroke engine.
"It's more powerful, faster and 150 lbs. lighter than Deere's 8.5 hp, five-wheeled AMT 600 cargo carrier," says Dan Gunnel-son, territory manager. "The four rear wheels, which are articulated to maintain maximum traction in all conditions, drive the machine. The long 74.5-in. wheelbase and MacPherson strut front suspension provide a superior ride and great handling."
The heavy duty cargo box has 6.4 cu. ft. of capacity. Optional stake sides more than double the capacity to nearly 14 ft. The cargo box has a hinged rear tailgate and there's a carrying rack over the wheels. There are toolboxes on each side of the cargo box with hinge-up covers. "The load capacity on level ground is 600 lbs., 125 lbs. more than the Deere AMT and you can tow another 8501bs. With the rear-mounted standard hitch. To make unloading easier, the box pivots from the center instead of the rear as on competitive models."
The unit is offered in two-toned charcoal gray. It will be available in limited quantities until early spring of 1989 when it will go into full-scale production.
Sells for $3,999.
