Putty Fills Crack In Exhaust Manifold on Hercules Engine ENGINES Engines 20-6-31 Richard Bowman, Chambersburg, Penn.: "I used Pyro-Putty to fill a long 3/ 8-in. wide crack in the exhaust manifold on an old 855 Hercules engine. I think the re-pair is now stronger than the rest of the manifold. The putty stays in there even when the engine backfires. It's easy to use.
