Mini-Excavator Digs 7 1/2 ft. Deep
"It's a small machine with a lot of power and versatility," says Mark Palmer, manufacturer of the Lifton LE 125 mini backhoe.
It's hydraulically-driven with a 7 gpm pump and powered by a 13 hp. Honda engine and will dig as deep as 7 1/2 ft. Bucket widths are available from 9 to 36 in.
When in use it's lifted off its wheels by hydraulically-controlled front and rear stabilizers. One advantage of the design is that if you need to get into a tight space, the drive wheels and axles can be removed by pulling a pin and disconnecting three hydraulic hoses. That lets it fit through a 28-in. opening.
The machine weighs 1,500 lbs. and self-tows on the highway at speeds up to 65 mph so no trailer is needed.
Sells for $14,500.
