Compressed gas is used to deploy the fire blanket in two steps. First, the blanket is lifted out over the house, and then gas-fired projectiles on the edges of the blanket fire into the ground to hold it tightly in place, even in high winds. The fire blanket mounts on the roof and is activated by infrared sensors. A battery-powered back-up system ensures it works even if there's a power failure.
