"Liquid Glue" Fixes Rips In Fabric, Leather
and repair any fabric or leather that it can penetrate. Works on everything from blue jeans to sofas to canvas tarps," says Robert Milton, High Country Enterprise in Montrose, Colo.
"Tear Mender" works like a liquid glue. The latex product contains no chemical additives and won't give off harmful vapors, says the company.
"Even if you can't sew a lick, you can re-pair blue jeans simply by applying a thin coating to both the jeans and a patch. The jeans will be dried and wearable in 10 to 15 minutes. The glue won't wash out and it'll even bond onto soiled fabric," says Milton, noting that the product is manufactured by Val-A-Chicago. "It also works great for repairing canvas tarps because in many cases it eliminates the need for sewing."
Applications for leather goods include jackets, sports equipment, work gloves, zip-per repairs, dress shoes, work belts, furniture, and purses. In cars it can be used on leather and fabric upholstery, car covers, carpet, and fabric liners.
The product has a 2-year shelf life. A 6-oz. squeeze bottle sells for $4.69 plus $4.50 S&H. A 16-oz. squeeze bottle sells for $9.69 plus $4.50 S&H. A 32-oz. bottle sells for $17.79 plus $4.50 S&H.
