Way To Keep Snap Ring On PTO Shaft
✖ |
Marvin Jantzi, Augres, Mich.: "The snap ring on the pto shaft on my 1100 Massey Ferguson tractor kept coming off, allowing the shaft to slip out. The dealer suggested a method someone else had used to solve the problem. We tried it and it worked. We machined out a metal cap enough so it covers the snap ring so it can't open enough to come off. The cap is held in place by a stud, which we drilled holes in to allow oil to go through. We also tapped threads inside the shaft for the stud to screw in. This fix worked."
