Bolt-On Paddles Pull ATV Through Mud
The 4-in. wide, 6-in. long rubber paddles mount on an adapter ring that fits tightly inside the wheel rim. The ring comes in two halves, with a pair of bolts used to spread the two halves apart to hold the ring against the wheel rim. Each paddle is then inserted into a steel tab and pinned in place. There are six paddles per wheel.
Inventor Darin Hubscher says, "The paddles cut through the mud pulling through it. The centrifugal force of the wheels constantly cleans the paddles. They also help in water and wet, drifted snow."
According to Hubscher, the paddles are flexible enough to bend when they hit trees or rocks. "If a paddle ever needs to be replaced you can remove the pin that holds it on and quickly replace it. The paddles don't affect the way the ATV handles in dry conditions because they never touch the ground," he says.
A set of two mud paddles sells for $199 (U.S.) plus S&H.
