This replacement pickup tailgate opens eight different ways for easier and better access to the bed.
  The flow-through mesh gate is built in two halves that mount inside a steel frame installed on the original tailgate pivot points.
  A pair of spring-loaded latches at the inside edge of each gate is used to open the two gates, either outward or inward. Either gate can be left open while the other one stays in place. By releasing a latch on each side, the entire tailgate can be folded down like a conventional tailgate.
  "It offers a number of advantages over conventional tailgates," says David Taplay, Dynagate Products, Inc., Woodstock, Ontario. "It eliminates the need to reach over or across the tailgate to load or unload, which reduces the risk for back and muscle strain. It opens completely for forklift loading and unloading, which eliminates bent or broken tailgates. If you want to carry an extended load, such as a ladder or lumber but don't need both gates down all the time, you can just open up one gate and still safely carry nails, hammers, toolboxes, etc., on the other side of the bed. It also works great for loading ATV's or snowmobiles onto your pickup because you can place the ramps directly against the bed without having to risk damaging the tailgate.
  "The mesh design improves fuel economy and also makes it easy to back up to a trailer hitch. The unit can be removed and replaced with the original tailgate at trade-in time."
  Two models are available û a standard full-size or a fifth wheel model. Both models are designed to fit most full-sized pickup brands and models. "The only limitation is that it won't fit pickups equipped with a flare side box," notes Taplay. "The standard color is black, but we also offer custom colors including silver, gray, red, blue, and yellow."
