Disc-O-Ridge Leveler Ends Coulter Clogging
"Clogging problems are caused by the ridge left by the front gang's outside coulters when discing tilled ground," explains Pope. "This ridge, when left intact, plugs the outside coulters on the back gangs. Besides the downtime to unplug the dirt, the soil buildup causes extra bearing wear."
The leveler bolts onto the backside of the front gang of most makes of offset and tandem discs, and can be removed for discing trashy fields. It features a "V" shaped blade, with a 28 in. spread, which flattens the ridge. The blade, with adjustable height and pitch, is mounted on a spring-loaded arm to trip over rocks.
The Disc-O-Ridge Leveler sells for $275.
