Wear Points Triple Life Of Cultivator Shovels CULTIVATORS Cultivators (58C) 7-2-4 You'll increase sweep life up to three times with new Sweep Savers installed on your cultivator shovels, according to Gordon Bates of the Digger Bandit Co., Lethbridge, Alta., manufacturer of the add-on wear points. "The Ni-Hard material the points are made of deflects rocks and other obstacles, and prevents excessive wear even under the toughest conditions. The sweep point takes much of the blow under normal field conditions but, by covering the point, you save wings from wearing too," says Bates. The Sweep Savers fit 10, 12, 14, 16 or 18-in. shovels, running 3¢ in. down either side of each. The replacement points install quickly by making a 1/4 in. spot weld, using a stainless steel electrode, on the underside and along the outside edges, and then welding the top outer edges with only a 1/4 in. spot weld.
