Hungry Microbes Chew Up Cellulose
Canada-based Iogen, Inc., is making ethanol using a fungus based on what many soldiers from WW II remember as "jungle rot". The hungry, genetically-modified bugs chew up straw and other organic materials, breaking them down into sugars which can be easily converted to alcohol.
