Chest Freezer Dog House LIVESTOCK DOGS 34-3-33 Guests are a little surprised when they see Dan Yuska's coon hounds come out of a freezer standing in the farmyard.
The Traer, Iowa, farmer put two chest freezers up on blocks so they wouldn't rust on the bottom and used a reciprocating saw to cut in a door in the end of each freezer.
He covered the sharp edges with sheet metal, screwing the metal down securely.
Yuska opens the freezer doors to spread straw or clean the houses out. He's had them about four years, and they have worked great, he says.
"The freezers are insulated so they are cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter," Yuska says.
