Daniel Bullock, Mt. Sterling, Ill.: “The rubber caps around gear shift levers eventually rot out and leak water into the transmission. I came up with a no-cost waterproof fix using the top off a plastic water bottle. You just cut off a few inches and slip it down over the gear shift lever, sealing the top with electrical tape.”
