Here are a few of the latest improvements that make Schweiss farm doors better than ever:
New “Strap Latch” design eliminates cables and pulleys
The best just got better. Schweiss Doors introduced patented liftstrap doors in 1998. Now the new Strap Latch “total strap design” is the most recent major breakthrough in the bifold door industry - and it comes only from Schweiss Doors.
This “new,” totally functional and simple bifold door strap latch system gives you an “all-strap” and “only-strap” bifold door providing by far the best autolatch system on the market.
Cable doors require frequent maintenance due to fraying, breaking and overwrapping. They open much slower, are hard to adjust, are noisier and not as safe as straps.
Schweiss did away with all the cables, chains, sprockets and pulleys on the latching system resulting in 90 percent less moving parts. The new design fits any size door, securely holds the door against your building in all positions, and positively locks the door when closed. It will offer added protection from wind gusts when the door is in any position or while in a moving operation. Schweiss Doors has an easy-to-install liftstrap retrofit conversion kit available to upgrade your existing bifold door.
Schweiss Doors introduces new greaseable wrap-around hinges
Schweiss Doors didn’t only wrap its head around the hydraulic door hinges, they went a step further and engineered a robust, user-friendly, greaseable hinge with a removable hinge pin.
The new hinge design, with grease zerks on every hinge, lets hydraulic door users grease their hinges from the underside of the doorframe without having to go through the cumbersome process of removing the top rubber weatherseal.
The wrap-around hinge brackets connect directly to the vertical push tubes for added strength. Schweiss doorframes are designed with double push tubes that are tied directly into the wrap-around hinges that connect both vertical push tubes directly to the header tube. The advantage of double push tubes is that forces of the hydraulic cylinders are evenly distributed to the doorframe and hinges.
Another Schweiss Door innovation is the incorporation of “spherical” bearings in all of its hydraulic one-piece doors. Spherical bearings are critical to the safe and smooth operation of a hydraulic door and extend the life of the door.

Customers tell us they want the inside of their doors to be equally appealing. Owners want to dress up the insides of their hydraulic and bifold doors by replacing or covering up unsightly insulation that over time can tear, discolor or deteriorate.
Now Schweiss has cost-efficient interior lightweight durable panels with interlocking edges that fasten to the exterior of the doorframe, cutting down installation time and providing a fully insulated thermal barrier, adding to the R-value of your door.
The glossy white durable finish is easy to clean. Blanket insulation can get sandwiched between the doorframe and outside sheeting — when blanket insulation gets squashed down you lose R-value. Applying liner sheeting and trim is labor intensive and more costly. It’s better to do it right the first time than having to redo it again.
Schweiss standard width 4’ insulated panels are available in multiple lengths, and thicknesses of 1 3/8”, 1 7/8”, 2 3/8”, 3 3/8”. The Class A fire-rated white plastic core, backed with insulation, keeps heat out during the summer and inside during cold weather. It is 100 percent moisture-resistant, will not corrode, and guards against water exposure and condensation.
The new panels eliminate the need to splice and patch in-between doorframe members. The entire doorframe is completely covered with insulation.
