Disk Blade Garden Hoe
An old disk coulter works great to make an inexpensive garden hoe, says Don Kendrick of Deville, La.
He used a disc grinder to cut a 5 by 4-in. section out of a 16-in. dia. disk coulter to serve as the hoe blade. He also cut a 4-in. long section out of a 1 1/2-in. dia. metal pipe and welded it to the blade. Then he drilled 2 holes in the pipe, inserted a 30-in. long wooden handle, and screwed it on. A side grinder was used to sharpen the blade.
