Corral-Mounted Hose Reel
After purchasing a store bought hose reel for his barn and garden area, Scott Bruce of Springfield, Mo., made a heavy-duty mounting bracket to fasten the hose reel to his corral fence.
The hose reel came with a template for building a bracket that would simply bolt to the fence. He used two pieces of 3 by 21 in. metal flat stock and 4 U-bolts. He drilled holes in the flat stock to accommodate the bolts, fastened the hose reel onto the flat stock, and then tightened the whole bracket to his metal pipe fence.
Bruce said the project cost about $60 (including the cost of the hose reel itself and the bracket materials), where as the cost of buying a premade bracket and hose reel together would have cost around $200. The unit holds a 100-ft. hose that can reach his garden and his livestock tanks from the bracket. “It’s really great for around the barn,” he said.
