Remote-Controlled Electric Tractor For Specialty Crops
What’s being called the first autonomous electric tractor developed for specialty crops was on display at the World Ag Expo in Tulare, Calif. The Ztractor is designed to replace small diesel tractors and is equipped with a 3-pt. hitch and a pto, both electrically operated.
At the show the tractor was equipped with a small 3-pt. mounted disk.
In an article in California Agriculture News, Bakur Kvezereli, president and CEO of Ztractor, says they now have 3 models in the manufacturing pipeline. “A 24 hp. model will be available to farmers this year. Our next model will be a bigger tractor at 45 hp. A 125 hp. model will be available in 2021,” he says.
“Our basic tractor will have all the usual features found on most other tractors. The premium model line will have more features, especially regarding the software and hardware.”
He says all Ztractors will have strong torque power, “Because it’s much easier to achieve higher torque with an electric tractor than with diesel power.”
The main farming operations he’s targeting include strawberries, vineyards and vegetables.
