Hirsch Auto combines three gas tank repair products into one complete kit. The 3-step process includes 1-qt. cleaner and degreaser, 1-pint tank etch, and 1-qt. alcohol/ethanol resistant gas tank sealer. The kit also includes stop putty which can instantly seal holes. The putty dries rock hard and can be sanded.
Detailed step-by-step instructions are included. Kits work well with both metal and fiberglass tanks.
The kit is not for fiberglass tanks that feed a 2-cycle engine where oil and fuel are stored in the same tank, or for use in aircraft.
If you have a tank that is leaking and need to stop the leak immediately, before sealing the inside of the tank use a piece of stop putty. The putty starts to harden in about 10 min. and will set up in gasoline. You can apply it while the tank is still leaking.
Bill Hirsch has been selling the sealer kit worldwide since 1965. It’s a non-porous coating and is not affected by ethanol or fuel additives. The kit sells for $56 online, plus shipping.
