Longer Lasting Lining For Brakes, Clutches
“It virtually never wears out,” says Dave Bortz, President of Tribco, Inc., which adapted the space age plastic fiber Kevlar® for use on brake linings, clutch plates, automatic transmission friction discs and other parts that would otherwise be lined with asbestos, bronze or other types of friction linings. Tribco has patents on Clutchtex® and Braketex®, the only 100% Kevlar fibered composite friction materials.
“Kevlar composite delivers higher torque and smoother operation and virtually eliminates brake, transmission and clutch plate wear after it’s installed.”
Dan Dolence from Grey Eagle, Minn. had a problem with his IH 450 and Super H tractors. “No one would use them since the old brake lining made them dangerous to operate,” he says. Now, Dolence says everyone uses the tractors “with ease” and that “it’s too good to be true.”
Bob Vander Ploeg at Meridian Equipment in Port Townsend, WA is an Allis Chalmers aficionado with 50 years of experience helping customers with their equipment. He sells Clutchtex® Kevlar® discs for Allis Chalmers power directors for increased PTO life.
Martin Belcher at Kentucky Clutch suggests Clutchtex® for the International 1066 tractors and says the John Deere 1050 works well also. “Anyone who has a feed operation is a good candidate and most every farmer has a loader tractor, a semi and a Dodge diesel.” Martin makes a dual disc with Clutchtex for the Cummings powered Dodge. He adds, “People like the engagement and it doesn’t wear the flywheel.”
