“Teeter Totter” Mouse Trap
A 5-gal. bucket, peanut butter, and an old blanket or burlap sacks are all you will need to use the “Teeter Totter” mouse trap.
The key to this clever trap is the 13-in long, 1 3/8-in. wide pivoting beam. The trap attaches to the bucket using slots in the base. Push it down onto the bucket lip and place a small amount of peanut butter onto the end of the beam marked bait. The bait is suspended over the center of the bucket.
The trap can be located anywhere mice are a problem. Place the blanket or burlap bags next to the bucket and close to the end of the beam to allow mice to easily crawl up onto the beam to get the bait. As they walk past the pivot point, the beam pivots down and the mouse drops into the bucket. The beam automatically “resets” for the next mouse.
“It’s easy to assemble – no fasteners or glue,” says Co-inventor Tracy Matzen. “Our vision is to help small farmers, big poultry farms, grain elevators, and industrial food companies.”
“We placed our final prototype in a large poultry barn and caught more than 390 mice over one weekend. We set the trap on a Friday night. On our first trip back to check the trap and video camera, the bucket was so full of mice they were crawling over each other to escape. It looked like something from a horror movie. That’s when we realized we were on to something.”
The Teeter Totter trap offers the flexibility of being both a kill and no kill trap and sells for $14.99 each or 6 for $79.00 shipped in the USA. Visit www.tttrap.com
