Modified Farmall A Big Hit At Parades TRACTORS Collectors Ray Hofner of Tongany Ohio modified a 1945 Farmall International A into a real head-turner “Dad bought the tractor brand new to use for sugar beets and tomatoes ” says Hofner “Later on my older brother took it and used it for mowing and other duties I received it in 1999 and left it in the barn for 18 years ” After finding inspiration from another member at a tractor club Hofner decided to widen and lower the tractor to make it suitable for parades “I picked up a left-hand housing and axle from an International B to make a new axle for it ” he says “It took me all winter ” Hofner estimates he put about $1 000 into the modifications “My inspiration in the tractor club put over $15 000 into his But I figured you can have fun for a hell of a lot less than that ” Prominently featured on the back are an American flag and a Pine Tree flag popular around the time of the Revolutionary War “I’m a veteran ” says Hofner “It’s important to me to feature a flag flown during many battles where the first American blood was spilled ” Hofner loves putting his hard work on display at parades “People really like it ” he says “I’ll take it to Bowling Green for the Thanksgiving parade and my granddaughter can’t wait to join me and throw out some candy ” Contact: FARM SHOW Followup Ray Hofner Tongany Ohio ph 419-823-4433
