Plastic Rust Shields For Combine Elevators
"We were recently approached by an implement dealer who said there was a need for a rust shield on Deere 9400, 9500 and 9600 combines to keep grain acids from dripping out of the grain tank and onto the return elevator. Since we already make `Reel Raps' and `Paddle Raps' for combine reels, the product we designed fits right into our operation," says Harlan Easton of Easton Products, Inc., Blooming Prairie, Minn.
Acids dripping onto the top side of the lower end of the elevator housing eventually eat a hole in the metal. Easton's Rust Shield is made out of tough polyethylene plastic that's unaffected by grain acids. It simply fits into place with a wing nut and a plastic tie strap. Once installed, it has a lower lip that drains acids off to the side of the machine. Sells for $18 plus shipping.
"Once we got into it we found that Deere 6620, 7720 and 8820 combines also need a Rust Shield to protect the elevators so we developed a smaller shield that mounts directly under the grain tank auger," says Easton. The smaller shield sells for $6.50 plus shipping.
