Mobile Chainsaw Mounts On Old Electric Start Garden Tractor
My first-of-its-kind mobile chainsaw mounts on an old electric-start garden tractor that's also fitted with a forklift and log stabilizer arms. The 30-in. self-oiling chainsaw bar mounts about midway up the fork lift mast. In operation, the forklift raises the log up off the ground and two log-locking arms hold the log tightly in place. The operator then cuts through the log, controlling the chainsaw with steel cables threaded through pulleys on a steering wheel. A 5 hp. gas engine powers the chainsaw. The chain rarely has to be sharpened because the lift arms keep logs off the ground. (Neil Butts, R & N Welding & Fabrication, 103 W. 19th, Goodland, Kan. 67735)
