Height Adjustable Basketball Hoop
"It makes it easy for children of any age to play basketball," says Ray Rutten, Osakis, Minn., about his new adjustable height backboard that can be positioned from 4 ft. to 10 ft. high with a hand crank.
Rutten got the idea because he has different age children and wanted them all to be able to use the basket. Any child can adjust the height in seconds. No tools required.
The pole is fitted with a track to hold the basket in position as it moves up and down.
A cable runs up through a pulley at the top of the pole.
Rutten has licensed the idea through the patent office and would like to sell it to a manufacturer. In the meantime he's taking orders and building them himself.
