Soy Saver Divider Prevents Reel Wrapping
Designed by Iowa farmer Arland Bloom, of Albert City, the unit is available from Soo Valley Sales, Sioux Rapids, Iowa.
"The Soy Saver not only prevents reel wrapping but does so without putting any weight on the sickle which can affect sickle flotation," says Bloom.
To install, you bolt a bracket to the side of the platform. The Soy Saver hinges off the end of this bracket and is held steady by a chain connected to the platform. The chain allows you to adjust the Soy Saver's height and also allows it to float if you drive through a ditch or hole.
Included with the device is a shoe that attaches to the outside sickle guard and goes inside the snout itself to divert weeds under the sickle bar.
Soy Savers sell for $680 a pair.
