Conveyor Belt Loads Pigs
Hog producer Leonard Hofer, of Lethbridge, Alb., uses a home-made conveyor, made from a swather canvas, to move about 3,500 piglets each year from the nursing to the finishing barn."Initially, we moved them up a ramp into a truck but it was a hassle to get them loaded," Hofer recalls. "This home-built conveyor solved the problem. Once they're on the conveyor, they're loaded."
An electric motor drives the conveyor. Three pulleys allow a full range of speeds. (Reprinted from Grainews.)
