They Make Covers for Planters, Drills
"Our best advertising is the covers them-selves. When a farmer sees them on his neighbor's planter, he calls us up," says Fred Gleaton, Jr., of Sunbelt Cover Co., manufacturer of covers to fit all planters and drills.
Covers are made to fit over seed hoppers, with or without insecticide boxes. They're made from a lightweight, tear-resistant nylon material that's waterproof. They roll up small enough so you can carry them on the tractor while planting and bring them out if bad weather comes up. An elastic strap secures each cover.
"Farmers use them year-round. Even if your planter is under shelter they work great to protect from bird droppings and dust," says Gleaton.
Sunbelt also makes covers to fit hoppers on grain drills as well as lawn mower covers and other custom-made covers for all types of equipment.
Planter covers sell for $15 apiece.
