New Steel Floor For Grain Bins
If you've got a grain bin with a deteriorating floor, or if you're thinking about putting up a new bin, you'll want to take a close look at this new one-piece steel floor that'll adapt to virtually any brand.
"It's rodent proof and more moisture proof than concrete," says Roland Thiessen, Peaceland Fabricating and Supply, Ltd., Hythe, Alberta. "It increases the capacity of existing bins and makes any bin portable."
The floor is available to fit bins from 14 to 25 ft. in diameter. It consists of a 10-ga. steel floor and ring equipped with pre-punched holes about 1 in. from the top that are used to bolt the bin on. The ring is avail-able 12 or 24 in. high. A 24-in. high ring on a 19-ft. dia. bin adds about 500 bu. of capacity. Both the floor and ring are covered by a rust-proof paint.
"We also sell 34-in. high steel bin stiffeners for some brands of bins that require them for extra strength, especially on their bigger models. The stiffeners bolt on out-side the ring and match up with the bin's original stiffeners."
A 12-in. high ring designed for a 14-ft. dia. bin sells for $950 (Canadian). A floor with a 24-in. high ring designed for an 18 or 19 ft. dia. bin sells for $1,635.
