Wooden Tie
If you're looking for something different that will make you stand out in a crowd, this "gravey proof" neckwear is just the ticket. Michael Garber says his finely crafted neckties make a fashion statement that "puts you at the center of attention." And yet he claims his wooden ties are not just a gimmick. "They're so well made they'll fit right in with your Sunday best suit."Garber makes ties from 15 different species of wood, including red oak, maple, ash, aromatic cedar, mahogony, black walnut and cherry wood. They're 17¢ in. long, 1/3 in. thick, and 2? in. wide. Bow ties, which are popular with both men and women, are 3¥ in. long by 1¥ in. wide. Both fasten with an elastic strap with velcro closure and fit a wide range of neck sizes.
Because his neckties are hinged in two places ù just below the "knot" and two-thirds of the way down ù they're comfortable to wear, even in a sitting position, says Garber.
He sells patented "Garberwear" wooden neckties for prices ranging from $28 to $36.
