"The problem is that the augers that carry material from the concave to the sieves are taller than the dividing plates. On hillsides, grain piles on one side and covers an entire auger and reduces combine capacity," explains George Kuchar, Carlinville, Ill., manufacturer of hillside dividers for Deere combines.

The add-on dividers consist of 2-in. tall, 40 to 48-in. long steel bars that attach to the dividing plates. They keep grain from flowing across the augers when the combine is on a slope.

With the dividers installed, Kuchar points out that you'll be able to go faster through heavy crops and will get less return of grain through the sieves.
