The E-Zee Oil Kaddee aims to remove the dread of oil changes with a system that makes it clean and easy to drain and pump fluid from heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
“My father, Mark Gruber, created the E-Z Oil Kaddee in the early 1990’s,” says company spokesman Trevor Gruber. A farmer in Michigan, he owned a small fleet of trucks and was looking for something to solve the dirty mess of oil changes. Gruber worked through many prototypes and testing processes before inventing the slide-out design of the current Kaddee.
“The Kaddee is used for easy and clean oil changes but can also be used as a transfer pump for emptying fuel tanks, hydraulic oil tanks, or whatever else,” says Gruber. “It’s designed for anyone who changes oil in the agriculture, timber, or transport industries. To date, we’ve sold over 5,000 across the nation.”
The team recently redesigned the Oil Kaddee. Says Gruber, “We went from an all-steel pan to a heavy-duty plastic made from recycled plastics. The frame was also all steel and changed to aluminum. The new Kaddee is much lighter to move around but just as heavy-duty.”
It’s easy to roll the Kaddee under trucks or other equipment for easy draining. It can be used with everything from engine oil to hydraulic fluid, anti-freeze, and more, and it holds 20 gal. at a time for disposal or reuse by transporting the used oil to bulk storage. In this way, a previously tricky task becomes a one-person operation. You simply drain oil into the pan and pump it into a storage tank. The Kaddee can also be used as a fluid transfer pump.
The Kaddee runs off a 115-volt 1/2-hp. motor and includes a 20-in. mesh stainless filter and an 8-ft. discharge hose with all quick tach fittings. The overall Kaddee weighs 85 lbs. and measures 11 in. by 24 in. by 48 in.
The E-Zee Oil Kaddee retails for $2,350 on the company website, with about $85 for shipping throughout the U.S.
“We make each E-Z Oil Kaddee in the thumb of Michigan, and most of the product is sourced locally,” says Gruber. “We have local farmers who still use theirs from 25+ years ago all around us.”
