Coulter-Equipped Hitch Converts Drills To No-Till
"It lets you do the job of new no-till drills with a pair of older, much less expensive conventional drills," says Bob Harwick, Yetter Mfg., about the company's new coulter-equipped gang hitch that converts two 15-ft. conventional drills to no-till.The hydraulic-operated hitch consists of a 3-section frame that lets you raise and lower the coulter assembly independent of the drills. A two-stage hydraulic lift system allows fast turns on headlands.
"As far as I know it's the first true 30-ft. no-till hitch on the market," says Harwick. "There's lots of room between the coulter assembly and drill to prevent plug-ups in heavy residue. The frame flexes to follow the ground contour which reduces skipping and allows maximum coulter penetration. The hitch's weight is distributed over 10 tires to reduce soil compaction and maintain flotation."
Requires a 200 hp tractor. Hitch folds to a 15-ft. transport width in less than 5 min.
A coulter-equipped hitch, designed to pull two drills equipped with 8-in. row spacings, sells for $27,000 (markers not included).
