Raymond B. Cameron, Fort Benton, Mont.: "I bought a converter which changed my AC welder to DC, which gives you smoother welds, a bigger selection of welding rods, less splatter and other advantages," says Raymond. The converter, built and sold by Kansan Melvin Carlson (Rt. 1, Box 66, Buffalo, Kan. 66717), consists of Bridge diodes mounted on a panel that can be mounted inside a steel frame and fitted with caster wheels so the welder can mount on top of it. Sells for $225. The panel alone (without the frame and caster wheels) sells for $125 to mount on the side or top of the welder.
