You place the Shur-Guide, with blade aligned and attached, to the left side of the grinder for clockwise-turning blades, and to the right side for counter-clockwise turning blades. Once the blade is properly aligned and secured in holder, you sharpen one end by moving the guide back and forth on the bench, with blade pressure against the grinder wheel. After sharpening one end, you don't have to change the bevel angle or horizontal alignment settings. Just rotate the blade one half turn and sharpen the other side.
