"Snake Catcher" Made Out Of A 6-ft. Length of 1/2-in Conduit
We live in an old farm house and occasionally have an unwelcome reptile visitor, so we made a “snake catcher” out of a 6-ft. length of 1/2-in. conduit. We doubled a 14-ft. piece of flexible cable through the conduit, with the loop end extending 6 in. out one end and the 2 ends of the cable out the other end. The 2 ends are secured through holes in an 8-in. section of a wooden shovel handle. To catch the snake I just place the loop over the snake’s head and pull on the wooden handle. As long as I don’t pull too hard the snake can be released alive. (Darrell Westervelt, 5151 Silver Creek Road, Manhattan, Kansas 66503)
