Microwave/Convection Combo Oven
"It's the most advanced oven ever developed," says Thomas P. Boyer, of Brother International, manufacturer of a new 2-in-1 oven that uses both microwave and convection (circulating hot air) technology to cook food. The new oven is 2 to 3 times faster than a conventional oven but it'll brown, bake and roast food in the same way, unlike a microwave oven. It can be used in any of three ways, depending on the food - micro-wave, convection or both.
The new oven also has a "brain" that automatically defrosts food by weight, even calculating "stand" times for thorough de-frosting, and you can use metal baking pans or foil-wrapped frozen foods in the unit when not using microwave.
Sells for $599.
