All-Season Tillage Tool
The Supercoulter Samurai from Summers Manufacturing does everything, from managing heavy residue in spring or fall to light tillage and seedbed preparation. This vertical tillage tool uses slightly angled, aggressive Samurai blades, delivering more soil movement than true vertical tillage but less than conventional tillage or high-speed discs.
Osmundson Manufacturing’s patented Samurai blades are exclusive to the Supercoulter Samurai. Its slightly concave, sawtooth shape is designed to excel at sizing residue and moving soil.
The Samurai blades are spaced 10 in. apart on each gang, with front and rear gangs offset to produce a 5-in. blade spacing. This ensures effective residue flow and sizing with maximum tillage coverage for soil tilth.
The front gang blades are positioned at 3-degree angles for an ideal field finish in most soils, while the rear blades are set at 5 degrees. Depending on soil types, conditions and personal preferences, both gangs can be adjusted from 1 to 5 degrees in the shop.
The hydraulic hitch on the Supercoulter Samurai optimizes in-field performance by transferring weight between the two gangs. The gangs are mounted on Summers’ unique Super-Flex gang mounting system, which absorbs shocks from rocks and stumps to protect blades. The toggle-mounted, seven-lip, sealed ball bearings self-align as the gang flexes.
The tool is available in 30, 40 and 50 ft. versions, with transport widths of 15 ft., 6 in., 19 ft., 10 in. and 16 ft., 5 in., respectively. It weighs 21,700, 25,600 and 33,000 lbs. The recommended horsepower ranges are 190 to 340, 250 to 460 and 325 to 575, respectively.
Options include harrow and hydraulic rolling baskets, mounted harrows and green or red paint choices. The harrow and hydraulic rolling baskets improve residue distribution and break up clumps for a more uniform soil profile. The rolling baskets feature Summers’ patented internal mud scrapers to prevent buildup. Hydraulic control varies the down pressure on the baskets while allowing them to be raised depending on ground conditions.
The optional three and four-bar mounted harrows can be adjusted for deep or shallow penetration. The heavy but flexible design floats over rocks or deep ditches.
