You'll Like This New 3-Pt. Mini Round Baler
Developed in Japan, the Takakita RB-501 mini baler lets you make bales in places you can't go with a full-size baler and may also be ideal for operators who can't justify the price of a conventional round baler.
"We used it last summer to make grass bales that weighed about 35 lbs. Alfalfa bales would probably weigh about 90 lbs. depending on moisture content," says distributor Doug Edney, Lakeville, Minn. "We've imported only one unit so far because we're still trying to see what the market is for the baler. We're selling this unit for $8,900, but the price will come down if there's enough demand that we can buy in volume.
"The baler has the same automatic wrapping mechanism found on Krone round balers so it can be programmed for the number of twine wraps you want. A bale bumper kicks the bale out of the fixed chamber, pushing it away from the baler. It has self-contained pto-driven hydraulic systems. At the end of the windrow you raise the 3-pt. to lift the baler, make the turn, then set the baler back down."
Requires an 18 hp tractor.
