Nutcrackers
One of the best nutcrackers we've seen is built by Clarence Vetsch, La Crescent, Minn. (Vol. 10, No. 5). It's foot-powered and you can sit down in a chair while you use it. To crack, you simply step on a foot pedal which pulls down on a lever that cracks the nut against the head of a bolt. The bolt can be screwed up or down to accommodate different size nuts. Vetsch, who is retired, makes the nutcrackers in his garage and sells them for $24 plus shipping.
