Automatic Dispenser For Feed, Seed Or Fertilizer
"It lets one man do the work of three," says Bill Remias, sales manager for the Farnam Equipment Co., Phoenix, Ariz., which has introduced a new truck-mounted automatic seed, feed and fertilizer dispenser.
Powered by the truck's electrical system, a 12 volt Delco motor moves a 31/2 in, drag auger to pour range cubes, pellets or grain at a rate of 6 to 10 lbs. per second. A toggle switch mounted under the dash lets you fill feed bunks, or pour directly onto the ground as you travel, measuring precisely the amount desired. An optional 4 in. auger lift attachment makes for easy filling of grain boxes, grain drills, or corn planters hoppers, Remias points out.
The dispenser is made of 16 ga. galvanized steel throughout, and reinforced at stress points by 5116 in. by 11/2 in. angle iron braces. Five models are available, ranging in size from 800 lbs. capacity to 3,200 lbs. (80 to 240 cu. ft.). All models are 60 in. wide. Smaller models can be set crosswise on top of the pickup bed. The largest model weighs 400 lbs. empty and hauls about 3,200 lbs. of material for a total weight of almost 2 tons. It can be loaded onto a flat bed with a tractor-loader, or two men can slide it on or off a flatbed.
Suggested retail cost ranges from $488 for the smallest model to $656 for the largest.
