Trailer-Aid Makes For Easy Tire Changes
✖ |
“With the Curved Trailer-Aid, changing a trailer tire on dual axle trailers is quick and easy, with no jack required,” says Noah Haut, Vice President of Creative at Camco. “It’s faster than using traditional jacks, especially in emergencies. When a flat occurs, you can drive the good tire onto the Trailer-Aid, which raises the flat tire off the ground, providing enough clearance to remove and replace it.”
The device works with many dual-axle trailers, making it a perfect accessory for RVs and equine, landscaping, car/race and equipment trailers. It offers a 6 1/2 in. lift for safe, simple tire changing and works with trailers up to 20,000 lbs. and tires up to 32 in. dia.
The heavy-duty honeycomb design is durable plastic and includes a convenient carry handle. “Trailer-Aid’s curved design maximizes lift,” Haut says. “The simple and fast drive-on design eliminates the need for heavy jacks.” Still, it’s lightweight and compact enough for easy storage. “The Trailer-Aid is engineered for durability,” he says. “There’s no need to unload your trailer, even the horses.”
To use, ensure the trailer is on a stable, level surface. Depending on the position of the flat tire, place the Trailer-Aid in front of or behind the good tire. Slowly drive the trailer onto the Aid until it lifts the flat tire off the ground. Secure the trailer with the wheel chocks on the opposite side for safety, then replace the flat tire. Carefully drive off the trailer aid and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Camco’s Trailer-Aid is made in the U.S. and comes in a curved version and a standard version for lower-clearance trailers (both priced at $69.99). For optimal performance, choose the model most suited for your trailer’s design. Each kit includes one Curved Trailer-Aid, a wheel chock and a rubber base pad for traction.
“The curved Trailer-Aid has a smoother transition to the raised position over competitive ramp-style designs,” says Senior Vice President of Engineering Andrew Angel. “That’s due to radiused engagement as it rolls with the tire to elevation. The curved Trailer-Aid is also more secure once elevated due to the additional chock.”
